Mick Foley Calls AEW Debut One Of The Biggest Nights Of His Life
Mick Foley says his AEW debut is one of the biggest nights of his life.
As announced last week, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley made his AEW debut at the Double or Nothing Buy In pre-show. He joined Renee Paquette in the ring and, with his daughter Noelle cheering him on in the crowd, the Hardcore Legend shared his thoughts about becoming All Elite.
Mick Foley called his AEW debut one of the biggest nights of his life, saying that after taking a break from wrestling a couple of years ago, the promotion made him fall in love with the sport all over again.
“Renee, good to say, without any hyperbole, this is one of the biggest nights of my life,” Mick Foley said. “Standing backstage getting the butterflies, seeing a couple of the female wrestlers about to come out here, knowing it’s one of the biggest moments of their lives, knowing that everybody is looking forward to not just one or two events, but one of the greatest shows, maybe the finest show of the year. And listen, I only break out my Crystal Gayle shirt for the biggest events.
“When asked what brought him to AEW. Mick Foley said, “Well, I’ve had a long love affair with professional wrestling, and a couple of years ago I took a little break, and then I started watching wrestling again. And this company, AEW, is the reason I fell in love with wrestling all over again.”
Mick Foley said he had lunch with Tony Khan 15 years ago
Speaking further, Mick Foley said he had a great lunch with AEW President Tony Khan 15 years ago and became good friends. When Khan expressed interest in bringing him to the promotion, the Hardcore Legend told him he was very interested. He believes he can be part of something big in the company.
“I was lucky enough that 15 years ago, I had a great lunch with Tony Khan. I consider him a friend to this day because of that lunch. So when Tony expressed some interest, I let him know I was very interested in being part of something. That’s the key. I really want to be part of something. And here in AEW, I feel like I can,” Mick Foley said.
Tony Khan has also teased a bigger role for Mick Foley in AEW, and noted that he’s open to the legend wrestling in the promotion.
