Reason Why Randy Orton Has Been Missing From WWE TV — Report
Randy Orton has reportedly been away from WWE television since WrestleMania 42 because of another serious injury issue. WWE seemed to tease more tension between Orton and Cody Rhodes after WrestleMania ended, but then Orton suddenly disappeared from programming again.
During WrestleMania 42 night one, Cody Rhodes defeated Randy Orton to keep the Undisputed WWE Championship. Things didn’t really end there, though, as Orton attacked Rhodes with a brutal punt kick that left the champion dealing with a badly swollen eye after the match.
A lot of fans expected WWE to continue that rivalry in the following weeks. It looked pretty obvious at the time. Instead, Rhodes moved into a completely different feud with Gunther while Orton stayed off television.
Dave Meltzer reveals reason behind Randy Orton’s WWE absence
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that Orton’s current absence is related to the same long-term back issues he has battled for years.
“Back injury. That’s why he’s been gone since WrestleMania and it’s probably why he didn’t win the title. He’s got a back injury and it’s significant. He’s had it for years. It almost ended his career, came back, still there and that’s why he’s been out.” [H/T: wrestlingnews.co]
However, Orton himself responded to the reports on X, formerly known as Twitter. He appeared to joke about the speculation surrounding his absence. Orton wrote, “Lmao just milking it guys, leave me alone I’m trying to enjoy my summer before I come back and take that #15.”
For now, however, it remains unclear when he will return to WWE programming.
