Cody Rhodes Says Dusty Rhodes Linked His ‘Splotch’ Birthmark to a Wild Incident
WWE‘s Cody Rhodes reveals the story his father, Dusty Rhodes, told him about his “splotch” birthmark.
The late WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes had a dark birthmark on his torso, which fans dubbed “the splotch.” Speaking with Jimmy Hart on What Do You Wanna Talk About?, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes revealed his father told him that the birthmark was, in fact, a stab wound.
Jimmy Hart first told a story about when he got shot in the butt
Jimmy Hart first recalled an incident when a fan shot him in the butt with a blow dart at an event in Louisville, Kentucky.
“It was a great time. It was like a badge of acceptance, I loved it. When we had beer thrown over us, I didn’t complain or get mad. I loved that. I got shot one time in Louisville, everyone has, in the rump with a dart gun, a guy made a homemade dart gun.” Hart told Cody Rhodes.
“He got a cheap little straw from Wendys or McDonalds or whatever. Took a little needle, like a threading needle, put a little thing on it and (blew). They had me draped over Handsome Jimmy’s (Valiant) shoulder, it was a six-man tag, it was Jerry Lawler, Jerry Jarrett and Dylan D against me, The Dream Machine (Troy Graham) and Handsome Jimmy Valiant…
“They were carrying me out, of course I got beat right, I was leaning over the back and all of sudden I go, ‘Oh’. I thought, ‘I hope nobody burnt my tights,’ because we were making a lot of money back then. I got back, I went, ‘Oh, I hope my tights aren’t burnt.’
“They go like, ‘No, look.’ And I went, ‘What is it?’ They go, ‘No look it’s a dart.’ And I went, ‘Oh my God.’ Miss Jarrett goes, You’ve got to go get a tetanus shot.’ I went, ‘Oh my God, it’s gonna take my whole payoff to go get a tetanus shot.’ But I went, got a tetanus shot. I didn’t have anything, thank goodness. But that’s what happened,” he told Cody Rhodes.
Cody Rhodes then shared the story his father told him
Jimmy Hart‘s story prompted Cody Rhodes to remember how Dusty Rhodes told him that his splotch birthmark was a stab wound from when he was working with Dick Murdoch as the heel duo, the Texas Outlaws.
“I don’t know if you remember but my dad had that ‘splotch’ is what it’s often called. He had that mark, I’ve just heard fans call it ‘the splotch.’ I asked what it was, it’s a mark on his stomach and he told me that someone stabbed him. It’s a birthmark.
“I remember thinking, dang, it was when him and Dick Murdoch were together, ‘There was that much heat?’ Cody Rhodes said. [H/T WrestleTalk]
