Kay Lee Ray (Alba Fyre) Reacts to Claim She Is the Best Women’s Wrestler in UK History
Kay Lee Ray responded to recent praise about her being the best women’s wrestler in UK history, calling it a great honor.
The former Alba Fyre spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard at WrestleMania 42, prior to her unfortunate WWE departure. Alba Fyre, who is now once again being billed as Kay Lee Ray, reacted to Nixon Newell’s claim that she is “the most incredible female wrestler to come out of the U.K.”
Fyre said the comment was incredibly moving, joking that it warmed her “cold, dead heart.”
“That’s that actually really means a lot to me, especially coming from Tegan. We’ve known each other for a long time,” she explained. “I was there when she was leaving the UK and coming to WWE. I was so proud of her because seeing one of your friends going and doing it, and then Piper followed her as well.
“Seeing your friends do the things that you want to do, I know that there can be a lot of jealousy in this business,” she continued. “But that for me is a high point, getting to see them doing cool stuff too. Then for Tegan to say that about me, it warms my cold dead heart.”

Kay Lee Ray is a former WWE and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion. She is also the longest-reigning NXT UK Women’s Champion of all time, with a reign of 649 days. She also had a memorable role in Chelsea Green’s Green Regime, but there’s nothing in particular that she hopes fans focus on more.
Instead, she said she’s happy with her career so far and enjoys finding things on her own. She also encourages fans to do the same.
“See, I’m happy with what I’ve done in my career,” she admitted. “Every so often, people are like ‘Oh, well, just watch this match,’ or just watch some NXT UK. And it’s great to get that, but I think people have to find that stuff on their own. If you’re told to watch something, if you’re like me, you’re not going to watch that thing.
“There’s so many TV shows that people watch that say you need to watch this. I’m like okay, now I’m not watching it, thanks. I don’t know why I do that, but I do,” she added. “I don’t want to be told to do. So just for me, I think it’s like just watch the stuff now. Just pay attention to what we’re doing now, and if you fancy going back and watching any old stuff, go ahead.”
Kay Lee Ray is currently a free agent and waiting to make her highly anticipated return to the ring. Many fans believe that could happen as soon as June 5 for Pro Wrestling Eve, as Molly Spartan teased facing off with her during a recent promo.
