FTR’s AEW Future Draws WWE Interest — REPORT
The future of one of AEW’s biggest tag teams could soon end up in WWE once again. According to a new report, WWE is showing their interest in FTR after the team lost the AEW World Tag Team Championships in an “I Quit” match against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage at AEW Double or Nothing 2026.
FTR previously wrestled in WWE as The Revival during the Vince McMahon era. Since joining AEW in 2020, the duo has become one of the top teams in the promotion.
FTR first arrived in AEW alongside legendary manager Tully Blanchard and went on an undefeated streak before beating Kenny Omega and Adam Page at All Out 2020 to win their first AEW World Tag Team title. Their 2022 feud with The Briscoe Brothers is one of the most memorable rivalries of the promotion. Around that time, FTR also became fan favorites after originally starting out as villains in MJF’s Pinnacle faction.
In 2023, they won their second AEW tag title reign by defeating The Gunns in a “Title vs. Career” match. After dealing with some injuries and quieter storylines, FTR worked their way back to the top again in late 2025.
Throughout early 2026, they defended the tag team title before losing it to Cage and Cope.
FTR Are Reportedly Approaching The Option Year Of Their AEW Deals
A report from BodySlam says Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler signed four-year AEW contracts in 2023 and are now getting closer to the option year of those deals. There is no sign that they are leaving AEW anytime soon, but conversations about their future and value to the company have reportedly started picking up behind the scenes.
BodySlam also reported that people close to the situation believe FTR see themselves as one of AEW’s top acts and feel they should be paid like one. WWE’s interest has apparently been passed along to the team through mutual contacts, although there have been no confirmed talks or negotiations about a return yet.
“There has also reportedly been at least preliminary interest from WWE communicated through mutual contacts as the situation continues to draw attention internally,” the report stated.
At the same time, WWE is reportedly trying to rebuild its tag team division after several roster changes. Because of that, bringing in an experienced team like FTR could make sense.
