A former WWE star is asking for help after ICE detained an independent wrestler he trained.

Former WWE star Gangrel recently took to Facebook to share that one of his students, Nicolth Hernandez-Lucero, was taken into custody by ICE earlier this month. Lucero, who is originally from Colombia, moved to the United States at the age of 15. She made her pro wrestling debut in 2018 and had her last match in 2023. The 24-year-old also works as a surgical technician at a local hospital with a valid work permit.

Nicolth Lucero’s husband, Noah Lazega, told NBC Miami that she was taken into custody during a traffic stop by federal immigration agents in Fort Lauderdale on February 11. She has been in confinement at a detention facility in Pompano Beach since.

Lucero’s attorney, Justin Gould, revealed that she entered the country legally as a dependent through her parents. He said that she has no criminal record and has been going through the asylum process with her family, which can take years.

Gangrel shared a GoFundMe campaign asking for help

Nicolth Lucero’s husband, Noah Lazega, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support the legal expenses as he continues to fight for his wife’s freedom. Former WWE star Gangrel also shared it on social media, asking fans to lend their support.

The GoFundMe campaign reads:

“My wife, Nicolth, is a dedicated surgical tech and a beloved member of our community. She has always gone above and beyond to help others, both in and out of the operating room. Her compassion, selflessness, and commitment to caring for those around her have touched the lives of so many people. Nicolth is not only a model citizen, but also my deeply loving wife, and her absence has left a huge void in our lives.

“Recently, Nicolth was detained by ICE despite having entered the country legally, holding a valid work permit, and having a pending asylum case. She is currently being held in a detention facility, and the circumstances of her detention have been incredibly distressing for our family and everyone who knows her. The legal process to fight for her release is complex and the fees are rapidly accruing, putting a tremendous financial strain on us during an already difficult time.

“What makes this even more heartbreaking is that we were due to have our wedding ceremony on the 28th of this month. Although we were legally married in December last year, we had been looking forward to celebrating our love with friends and family. Her detainment has taken that special day from us, adding to the pain and uncertainty we are facing.

“We are reaching out to our friends, family, and community for help. Your support—whether it’s a kind word, a message, or a donation—means the world to us. Nicolth and I are deeply grateful for each and every one of you. Anything you can do to help, from sharing this fundraiser to offering words of encouragement, will make a difference. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with us and helping us fight for Nicolth’s freedom.

Apart from the WWE legend, NWA star Tiffany Nieves has also asked fans to help the cause by sharing the GoFundMe on social media.

WWE stars have donated to the campaign

Noah Lazega launched the GoFundMe campaign to raise $28,000, and with over 193 donations, it has raised $20,651 so far. WWE stars Bayley, Roxanne Perez, and Becky Lynch have also made significant contributions. They donated $1000 each.

Nicolth Lucero’s attorney also criticized the immigration system, saying “everybody’s illegal unless otherwise noted.” He also added that this is not what President Donald Trump promised. He is not the only one say it, as WWE Hall of Famer and former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura also had something similar to say while discussing the current political climate in the country.
