WWE star Chad Gable is granting the WWE Universe a closer look at one of the toughest phases of his wrestling career. The former American Made leader has announced a new nine-part documentary series called The Renewal, which follows his recovery from the shoulder injury that kept him out of action for more than seven months.

Gable shared the news on social media, along with a trailer for the series. He revealed that the first episode will premiere this Friday on his YouTube channel, @ChasBettsOfficial, with new episodes released every week.

Chad Gable opens up about career-threatening injury setback

In his announcement, Gable explained that suffering the injury forced him to slow down and rethink things for the first time in his wrestling career.

“I’ve spent my entire career preaching discipline, preparation, and accountability. Then I got hurt. For the first time in my professional wrestling career, I was forced to stop and figure out who I am when the thing I’ve built my life around gets taken away,” Gable wrote on his Instagram.

The series will cover every part of his recovery, including rehab, training, nutrition, setbacks, and personal challenges along the way. Gable promised an honest look at the process, saying there would be no shortcuts and no pretending that every day was easy.

In the preview, he talks about how well things were going before the injury stopped everything.

“I was on the roll of a lifetime, in my opinion, career-wise. I was having these incredible matches that I’ve been waiting to have with the storytelling we were able to do, the physicality that was going on week to week. It just seemed to increase every week and get better and more intense. It all just comes to an end, just like… The doctor kind of explained to me they found some different issues,” Gable said.

The video also showed doctors saying that his right shoulder was a mess and the left one needed repair. But instead of focusing on the negative side of the injury, Gable said he wanted to use the time away to improve himself.

“You can make the most of anything and turn it into a positive. That’s what the intention is here. I’m going to use this time off in the most positive, hour-facing way that I can. All the way through my time with WWE, I’ve never been seriously hurt,” he said.

The trailer also includes comments from fellow WWE stars Sami Zayn and Bayley. Zayn encouraged Gable, saying, “It’s an opportunity to get in touch with the truer side of yourself.”

Bayley, on the other hand, reminded him to appreciate the break. “Don’t take the time for granted because you don’t know when you’re going to get that again,” she said.

Gable suffered a legitimate shoulder injury in June 2025 during one of the busiest periods of his career. At the time, he was appearing as both Chad Gable and the El Grande Americano across WWE and AAA events.

WWE later wrote him off television after an attack from Penta on RAW. During his absence, Ludwig Kaiser continued the El Grande Americano gimmick in WWE and AAA.

Gable eventually returned during the Men’s Royal Rumble match in January, portraying the Original El Grande Americano.

More recently, he lost a Mask vs. Mask match to Americano II at AAA Noche de Los Grandes.
