WWE’s Seth Rollins Calls Chicago Bears Stadium Drama A ‘PR Stunt’
Seth Rollins isn’t buying the Chicago Bears being anywhere but Chicago.
The NFL’s Chicago Bears have played in the Windy City for more than 100 years. However, the team’s desire to build a new stadium has seen them entertain the idea of building one in Hammond, Indiana. The move has been largely criticized by Bears fans and NFL pundits, noting how the Bears belong in Chicago.
WWE Superstar Seth Rollins is a die-hard Bears fan, and he recently shared his thoughts on the potential move. Rollins doesn’t think it’s really going to happen, although another NFL franchise’s move across state lines might set a precedent.
“No way. Can you even imagine it? The ‘Gary Bears,’ c’mon, get out of here,” Rollins told Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay. “Look—that’s a PR stunt. There’s no way—they’re not leaving Illinois.”
Sharpe said critics said the same thing about the Kansas City Chiefs leaving Missouri, and Rollins says that’s a fair argument.
Seth Rollins still wants to call them the Chicago Bears, no matter where they play
“At least if we call them the Chicago Bears,” Rollins said. “Kansas City is the same either way [Missouri and Kansas both have a Kansas City]. We’re just going to have to rename Gary. We’re just going to have to be Chicago, Indiana. Change the name.”
Despite the Bears possibly moving, Rollins is optimistic about the team’s future.
“They’ve got it. They got a quarterback and a coach. They stay synced up and you stay in that system, and you see that in the modern NFL, that’s a recipe for success, especially when you look at the big dynasties.”
