Eddie Kingston Says He Had Mixed Emotions About Receiving His AEW Contract
Eddie Kingston appeared on the Battleground Podcast to talk about a wide range of topics.
During it, he was asked his thoughts on receiving a contract from AEW.
“It was insane because I tell everybody I battle a lot of mental health stuff. I’m really open with it because I don’t care. Only God can judge me so I don’t really care what people say,” Kingston started.
“It was weird. It was an emotional time. I remember breaking down crying into the contract. Then I got worried, because again, the mental health thing, I like to tell people it’s the Irish, Puerto Rican, Catholic guilt that I got. I’m sitting there like, ‘Do I deserve this?’, because I got friends, and I don’t have a lot, but I have friends who are not making this money.”
“I almost had like a little bit of remorse almost, I guess is the right word. Do I deserve this contract? Do I deserve the love that I’m getting? Then you start thinking in your head, ‘No, you don’t’, and you have to break yourself out of that.”
“I’m lucky enough that I have a mentor and a friend like Homicide who’s very street and very honest with me. He would never lie to me. He made me feel good for what I was doing. I have a very good crew of people around me, and I like to keep it like that because a lot of times, if you have bad people around you, they bring you down, and I’m not trying to be brought down.”
