Netflix Censors CM Punk’s Reportedly Unscripted Sami Zayn Remark on WWE SmackDown

Netflix has censored a remark CM Punk made about Sami Zayn during last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.
In a pre-match promo, Punk took a shot at Zayn. This was by referencing his hand injury and his previous short run as WWE Champion.
The Straight Edge Superstar described Zayn as “a guy who broke his hand jerking it to his nine-day fluke title win,” referencing the Canadian star’s nine-day reign as WWE Champion that was ultimately ended by Punk.
The comment was left uncensored during the original broadcast of SmackDown, but viewers watching the episode on Netflix noticed that the streaming service had bleeped Punk’s use of the word “jerking.”
CM Punk’s Sami Zayn Line Wasn’t On WWE’s Internal Rundown
According to Fightful Select, Punk’s “jerking it” line was not listed on WWE’s internal rundown for SmackDown. The report suggested that the comment was something Punk said on the fly rather than a planned part of his promo.
Zayn would ultimately get the opportunity to respond to Punk inside the ring later in the show. The two faced off for the Undisputed WWE Championship in the main event of SmackDown in Mexico City.
The match featured several run-ins, with Kevin Owens eventually playing a pivotal role in the finish. Owens inadvertently struck Punk with the championship belt that was intended for Zayn.
Zayn then hit a low blow on his former best friend before connecting with the Helluva Kick. He pinned Punk to win the Undisputed WWE Championship for a second time, bringing Punk’s reign to an end in the process.
