WWE RAW, SmackDown & More Set To Move to Netflix in Japan
WWE is set to bring its programming to Netflix in Japan beginning in October 2026.
WWE Japan announced the news on X, revealing that WWE content distribution will begin on Netflix Japan once the company’s current agreement with Abema comes to an end in September.
Abema has carried WWE programming in Japan since 2023. The platform has streamed RAW, SmackDown, NXT, and WWE premium live events during its partnership with the company. Its agreement is expected to conclude at the end of September, paving the way for Netflix to take over WWE’s content distribution in the market.
The graphic shared alongside the announcement featured talent from all three of WWE’s main brands. Roman Reigns, IYO SKY, Giulia, Shinsuke Nakamura, Naraku, and Kendal Grey were among the stars featured in the post.
Netflix is expected to become the new home for WWE programming in Japan
The move would give Netflix a larger presence in WWE’s international distribution strategy. The streaming giant has made WWE programming a major part of its global sports offering, with RAW becoming available on Netflix in the United States in January 2025.
WWE President Nick Khan previously discussed Netflix’s ambitions to secure WWE’s international rights during an appearance on The Varsity podcast. Khan recalled that Netflix executive Brandon Riegg had encouraged WWE to organize its international rights so the company could eventually reach as many markets as possible.
According to Khan, Netflix was interested in securing WWE’s rights on a global scale rather than entering individual smaller markets. WWE subsequently worked toward that international strategy, eventually leading to its landmark partnership with Netflix.
