WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair Files $10 Million Lawsuit After Allegedly Being ‘Duped’ Into Major Deal
Ric Flair has filed a $10 million lawsuit against digital talent agency FAM Networks, accusing the company of misleading him into signing away rights to his name, image and likeness.
According to an Independent exclusive, the WWE Hall of Famer claims FAM promised him significant revenue through speaking engagements, appearances, collaborative projects and social media content. However, the lawsuit alleges that many of those promises were never fulfilled.
Flair claims FAM presented him with a contract that granted the company broad and permanent rights over his identity. He allegedly had only 14 minutes to review the agreement and did so without legal counsel.
The complaint further alleges that FAM took control of Flair’s social media accounts and monetized his Facebook page while paying him very little. Flair told The Independent that he has already lost at least $250,000 in revenue.
Ric Flair Seeks $10 Million In Lawsuit Against FAM Networks
Flair’s lawsuit claims FAM approached him when he needed assistance managing his digital presence and offered a number of financial opportunities. The agreement allegedly gave Flair 90 percent of proceeds from certain speaking engagements and appearances, 50 percent from collaborative projects and 10 percent from passive content.
FAM also allegedly promised to restore Flair’s “hacked, demonetized” Facebook page, which the company claimed could generate six figures in monthly revenue.
According to the complaint, those opportunities never materialized. Flair alleges FAM secured no speaking engagements, in-person appearances or personal projects under the higher royalty structure, instead reposting existing content.
The lawsuit claims FAM was nevertheless able to generate as much as $20,000 per month by monetizing Flair’s Facebook page. It also alleges that the company transferred the page to itself, locking Flair’s existing team out and disrupting a potential advertising deal.
Flair Claims FAM Networks Failed To Disclose Legal Dispute
Flair’s attorneys argue that the agreement should be rescinded, describing it as a “trap” that gave FAM extensive control over his commercial identity. The complaint also alleges that FAM failed to disclose another legal dispute involving ufologist Steven Greer before Flair signed the agreement.
The Nature Boy is seeking the return of his Facebook page and a court declaration that FAM has no rights to his name, image or likeness. He is also seeking a complete accounting of revenue generated through his identity.
Flair is seeking at least $5 million for alleged breach of contract and another $5 million in compensatory and punitive damages over alleged fraudulent inducement, along with additional damages and attorneys’ fees.
FAM Networks has not publicly responded to the allegations. The Independent reported that attempts to contact several company departments were unsuccessful.
Flair, who last wrestled in 2022, told The Independent that he “wants to bury” those at FAM Networks.
A trial date has not yet been set.
