Bayley’s WWE Contract Status Clarified After Conflicting Reports
Bayley’s WWE contract situation has been clarified after conflicting reports emerged regarding the former Women’s Champion’s status with the company.
The confusion followed Bayley’s return to WWE television on the September 7 episode of RAW. She had been away from WWE programming for nearly two months before making her comeback.
Dave Meltzer initially reported that Bayley had signed a new contract with WWE. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, he gave a brief confirmation of the news.
“Yep, signed a new deal.”
A subsequent report from PWInsider challenged that claim, leading to further clarification from Meltzer regarding what he had originally reported.
Bayley Has Not Signed A New WWE Contract Yet
PWInsider reported that Bayley had not recently negotiated a new deal with WWE. Moreover, she still has significant time left on her current contract. The outlet also rejected reports suggesting that her return to television was tied to a newly signed agreement, describing those claims as “100% wrong.”
Meltzer has now explained that although Bayley has not actually put pen to paper on a new WWE contract, the two sides had reached a general agreement on terms several weeks ago.
“Bayley hasn’t signed a new deal yet with WWE, but that is expected to happen,” Meltzer said. “Bayley had pretty much agreed to terms with WWE a few weeks ago, when they started mentioning her on TV.”
The distinction means Bayley remains under her existing WWE contract for the time being, with a new agreement expected to be completed. WWE’s decision to bring her back to television also indicates that the company remains confident about keeping her around beyond her current deal.
Bayley has already returned to a full schedule with WWE. After appearing on RAW, she has been back on the road with the promotion and competed during WWE’s South America tour this week.
