Rey Mysterio Pushed for WWE Newcomer To Get RAW World Title Tournament Spot — Report
Rey Mysterio reportedly pushed internally for a WWE newcomer to receive a spot in the World Heavyweight Championship Number One Contenders Tournament.
According to False Finish, Mysterio pushed for El Fiscal to be included in the tournament.
“False Finish has learned that Rey Mysterio pushed internally for El Fiscal to be included in the World Heavyweight Championship Number One Contenders Tournament.”
Fiscal made his WWE RAW debut last night, taking on Rey Fenix in a first-round match. Fenix defeated Fiscal after hitting the Mexican Muscle Buster.
The other tournament match saw Dragon Lee defeat El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. after hitting a second Operation Dragon.
The tournament winner will challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship on the September 14 episode of WWE RAW in Mexico City.
Rey Mysterio Competed On WWE RAW
Mysterio was also in action on RAW, challenging Chad Gable for the Intercontinental Championship. The two had a competitive back-and-forth match before Gable retained the title.
After the match, Mysterio put the Intercontinental Championship around Gable’s waist as a sign of respect.
Mysterio currently serves as the on-screen General Manager of AAA. Several AAA stars have competed on WWE programming since WWE acquired the promotion in April 2025, including wrestlers appearing on RAW and other WWE shows.
