Jay White’s AEW Contract Status Update Explained
Jay White remains under a long-term AEW contract despite being off television for an extended period due to injury.
The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, has stayed out of action since late March 2025. He suffered a serious hand injury during a match against Kevin Knight on AEW Collision and has not appeared on AEW programming since. Along with the hand injury that required surgery, White was also dealing with a shoulder injury that needed attention.
With White’s long absence, fans began asking questions about his contract status. A recent fan question during a Fightful Select Q&A asked when White’s AEW deal might expire. According to the report, White’s contract is “nowhere near up.”
When he signed with AEW in April 2023, he agreed to a long-term deal. The report also noted that the company will likely add his injury time now close to a year to the length of his contract. Based on this, White is expected to remain under contract until at least next year.
A few weeks ago, reports also clarified Jay White’s return status. He is still recovering from surgeries in 2025 to fix his hand and shoulder. AEW sources confirmed that doctors have not cleared him to wrestle, and he is not expected to return anytime soon.
During White’s absence, Austin Gunn and Juice Robinson have continued to represent the Bang Bang Gang on AEW television. They recently challenged FTR for the World Tag Team Championships but were unsuccessful in capturing the titles.
