USA Network might no longer have NXT, but they know who they want from that roster for WWE SmackDown in 2026.

While it seems that WWE was slow in calling up men and women from NXT to RAW and SmackDown in recent months, that has changed in recent weeks, heading into the new year.

With talent like Je’Von Evans and Trick Williams primed for a main roster call-up in 2026, USA Network has already made it clear they have interest in securing another NXT star for the SmackDown brand.

On the latest episode of WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, it was revealed that internal discussions have already begun to bring Joe Hendry to the main roster as a member of the SmackDown roster. It was noted that USA Network is very keen on landing Hendry for the brand.

While a main roster call-up appears to be in Hendry’s future, a pay raise likely isn’t. Sapp has reported that the former TNA World Champion is already under a main roster-level deal despite being on NXT.

Joe Hendry will get his WWE SmackDown audition later this evening

Below, we will discuss spoilers relating to tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown. If you don’t want to know anything about tonight’s show, back out now.

spoiler alert

It was previously announced that Hendry would face The Miz on SmackDown tonight. However, the spoilers dictate that the company went all out for Hendry’s SmackDown in-ring debut.

Not only did Joe Hendry get to compete on tonight’s episode of SmackDown, but he also got to do one of his concerts that were popularized in TNA and NXT.

The regular match between Hendry and Miz was changed into a street fight. Hendry would win the match thanks to an assist from R-Truth, who was dressed as a bunny.

WrestleZone will have live coverage of WWE SmackDown later this evening.
