WWE Eyeing Bigger Role for Cathy Kelley After Impressing Officials — Report
WWE’s backstage correspondent and interviewer Cathy Kelley has reportedly earned internal praise. So much so that the company is considering expanding her role.
Kelley, known for her comedic and lively backstage TikTok videos with WWE stars, has seemingly impressed the management enough for the company to look at a bigger role for her.
WWE Could Expand Cathy Kelley’s Role Going Forward
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, Cathy Kelley’s work behind the scenes drew backstage praise. As a result, WWE is thinking about making her the focal point of the company’s digital media activities. This includes Club WWE.
The report says, “Sources told WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select that WWE has been impressed with Cathy Kelley’s work and is considering making her a focal point of social media efforts, including for Club WWE, moving forward.”
Club WWE is the company’s digital series where fans get to see more of the personalities behind their favorite WWE stars beyond the ring. WWE stars take part in casual interviews, games, and other entertainment-focused activities.
Stars like Rhea Ripley, R-Truth, and many others have often been seen participating with Kelley in backstage lighthearted skits and playful content. It is possible she is well-regarded internally due to her personality-driven content with WWE stars.
It should also be noted that Kelley previously sparked speculation about going beyond her role when she was seen training at WWE Performance Center.
Kelley later explained that she is trying to learn as much about the wrestling industry as possible. Cathy Kelley initially joined WWE in 2016 and became known across NXT and WWE’s digital media programming. However, Kelley then made her exit from the company in 2020, before re-signing two years later.
From then on, Kelley resumed her role as a backstage interviewer and became a staple of the company’s digital content.
Although the reported discussion signals WWE’s interest in expanding her role, no change appears to be official yet. For now, we will have to wait and see how WWE utilizes her in the future.
