Trey Miguel Planned To Retire After AEW Exit
Trey Miguel credits TNA’s support for reconsidering his decision to retire following his AEW release.
All Elite Wrestling released Trey Miguel a few days after announcing his signing, along with his The Rascalz partners. Reports noted that the order to release Miguel came from someone above AEW President Tony Khan. It was allegedly due to some controversial comments he made on social media in 2020, for which he apologized.
Following reports that TNA Wrestling had already talked to Trey Miguel about signing him after his quick release, he made his surprise return on this week’s episode of TNA iMPACT on AMC. Following his return, Miguel took to X/Twitter to reveal that he considered retiring after the emotionally draining week he had. However, with TNA’s support, he decided not to go through with it.
“I planned to step away from wrestling after the week I went through. It was really hard on me mentally and emotionally. I didn’t think I could do it anymore. Thank you to everyone who had my back, especially @ThisIsTNA. It was hard not to quit. But we can’t give up. Thank you God,” Try Miguel posted.
Trey Miguel seemingly hinted at what led to his AEW release
While several reports continued to emerge about the situation surrounding his AEW release, Trey Miguel took to X/Twitter with a statement about his departure.
“I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my time. I’ve always apologized and did my best to put a better foot forward after. I don’t preach hate and I don’t take any pride in being hateful. I’m a man of faith, I believe in forgiveness and only ever preach that. I’m a different man today,” Trey Miguel said in a post.
Miguel’s release seems to be similar to the situation Jay Briscoe faced when he was not allowed to appear on AEW programming due to prior comments he made on social media. However, that’s not currently confirmed.
