William Regal Recalls Having Gun Pulled On Him After A Match

AEW’s William Regal has said he had a gun pulled on him after wrestling legend Larry Zybszko.

Prior to joining WWE, Regal worked for various promotions, including WCW from 1993 to 1998.

Speaking on his Gentleman Villain podcast, Regal explained how he once tried to disrespect the flag of the United States when he was 26 years old, unaware of the U.S. Flag Code.

“On the wall at the back of the stage, there’s a huge American flag. Me, I’ve just beat Larry Zbyzsko and people are booing and booing and booing.

“I grabbed and was about to pull.. It was huge — a big American flag off the thing and I’m looking at the crowd to my right. As I looked to the left, I just felt a tap on my forehead. From the side of the stage, there was a Jacksonville police officer stood and as I turned my head, there was a gun in my forehead.

“He said, ‘I suggest you don’t do that sir’ and I went, ‘I think you’re right officer’ and I just walked off the other side and completely went out of character.”

The United States Flag Code is a series of rules to protect the flag, which argues that no disrespect should be shown to the flag.

U.S. Flag Code, while binding in law, is not enforceable due to the First Amendment rights protecting freedom of expression.
