Hiroshi Tanahashi Re-Signs With NJPW
IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi officially re-signed with NJPW today.
It was the wrestler himself who revealed it on Twitter. NJPW was previously known for signing every wrestler to one year deals that expired at the end of January, but since AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura left for WWE in January 2016 their policy changed, with Kazuchika Okada and Jay White reportedly signing long-term contracts.
Tanahashi’s status was unknown, but it’s very likely that he was included in the group given his status as legend in Japan. “The Ace” just won his second IWGP U.S. title on January 5th at Wrestle Kingdom 16 defeating KENTA.
