Dana White Gives Update on Ex-WWE Star Jake Hager After Emergency Eye Surgery
Dana White provides an update on former WWE Superstar Jake Hager after his brutal eye injury.
Jake Hager competed against Johnny Magna at Power Slap 23. The former WWE Star lost the match via TKO and was left bleeding from his left eye after a brutal shot from Magna.
UFC President addressed Jake Hager’s injury after the event and said, “Not good. That’s probably the worst injury we’ve had in the UFC, in Power Slap, anything.” He also said the former WWE star might’ve suffered a ruptured tear duct. Hager had to undergo emergency eye surgery.
Jake Hager Being Sent To Specialist After Emergency Surgery
Dana White provided another update on Jake Hager’s condition, saying he was sent to a specialist in Miami, Florida, after the surgery. He noted that things like that always happen in combat sports. He said making sure fighters undergo medical testing before fights can prevent such incidents in the future.
“Yeah, he went into emergency surgery that night, and then we’re sending him to a specialist down in Miami. There are a lot of unfortunate things that happen in combat sports. Those two kids that couldn’t stay here tonight, and they’re in the hospital; I mean, it’s contact sport. It happens,” he said about Jake Hager.
“What you do is you make sure that you do all the proper medical testing before the fight. You have the right guys there during the fight, and you take care of these kids after the fight. It’s the biggest priority for me. Other than having great fights, the only thing I really give a s**t about is that these kids are all safe and healthy,” Dana White said about Hager.
