Recent reports suggest that former WWE star Baron Corbin could be heading back to WWE. Corbin is currently competing under the name Bishop Dyer following his departure from the company.

The former United States Champion has reportedly been discussed internally for a possible return. Corbin’s WWE contract was not renewed in November 2024, ending his 12-year run with the company.

Following his departure, he began competing on the independent scene under the name Bishop Dyer. He has since found success across multiple promotions. Dyer is currently one-half of the MLW World Tag Team Champions alongside former WWE star Dijak.

It has been nearly two years since Corbin last competed in a WWE ring. His final televised WWE match took place on an August 2024 episode of SmackDown. He teamed with Apollo Crews in a tag team match against Angel and Berto.

Baron Corbin’s WWE return reportedly discussed backstage

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE has internally discussed bringing Corbin back to the company. He said, “Probably back in WWE.” Meltzer also speculated that Corbin could possibly be connected to a mysterious tease involving Danhausen on SmackDown this week.

He said, “On the SmackDown show, when Danhausen was talking about something bigger, my gut was that that’s who it is. That’s just my speculation, but I just know that he’s been talked with about being brought in. It might even be done, but I haven’t had it officially confirmed to me it’s done. But I have 100% confirmed that it’s been heavily talked about.” [H/T: f4wonline]

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp also reacted to the rumors on X, formerly known as Twitter. He revealed that someone had previously mentioned the possibility of Corbin returning “very randomly two weeks ago.”
