Booker T Student Reacts After Accidental Namedrop On WWE NXT
An on-screen WWE blunder once led to a flood of social media messages for “Lady Bird” Monica Monroe.
With the July 22, 2025 edition of WWE NXT emanating from his hometown of Houston, Texas, commentator Booker T opened the show by hyping up the crowd and previewing the matches they’d see. One pitted the freshly-signed Blake Monroe (fka Mariah May) against Wren Sinclair. While initially announcing the match, though, Booker accidently referred to Blake as “Monica Monroe,” a name belonging to his student and women’s champion at Reality of Wrestling.
Sitting down with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay, “Lady Bird” Monica Monroe recalled her reaction to hearing her name uttered by Booker on NXT television.
“Okay, it’s awesome, but let’s be honest, I’ve been a Monroe first. So let’s just make that clear (laughs). No, it’s freaking awesome,” Monica said. “I was actually in a yoga class. I get out my yoga class, my phone was like blown up, and I was like, ‘What the heck just happened?’ Thank you, Booker, for that. My Twitter went crazy. It’s great. Booker couldn’t get me out of his mind because I’m a top tier talent, baby. It’s cool. It’s great. I guess we could say I made my NXT debut in some way. It’s pretty cool. You can’t blame him. I’m wrestling at that school like every month, sometimes twice a month, so you can’t blame the guy. I’m around there a lot.”
During the NXT broadcast, Blake Monroe, known as “The Glamour” went on to defeat Wren Sinclair in under three minutes. Monica, meanwhile, sent love to her new sister on Twitter/X.
