A WWE personality doubles down on his comments about AJ Styles‘ retirement.

AJ Styles had to retire from in-ring competition after losing his match against Gunther at the 2026 WWE Royal Rumble. During the post-show after the PLE, analyst Peter Rosenberg shared that he had spoken to Styles, and that the Phenomenal One told him that he’s done as an in-ring competitor following his loss.

However, some fans called him out for his comments. Many claim that he was wrong, saying AJ Styles was only retired in WWE, and that he’ll continue as an in-ring performer elsewhere. Rosenberg addressed the angry fans on X/Twitter and refused to back down on his comments.

“I try to give real information on the post-show. I wasn’t gonna say every word that AJ told me, because it was a private conversation. But I can tell you that the theme was he is done… I’ve been saying for weeks, ‘I hope the plan was that if he lost, he goes to TNA and we see more of AJ Styles.’

“All I can report is what he told me: that he’s done. Now, if he’s working me, fantastic! I love being worked. But you guys getting mad and thinking that I’m hating on AJ because he says it’s done, I don’t know what you want. He wrestled, he lost, he’s retired,” the WWE personality said.

Triple H reacts to AJ Styles’ WWE retirement

During the Royal Rumble post-show, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H shared his thoughts on AJ Styles’ retirement and revealed that the Phenomenal One had told him that he’s done with in-ring competition.

“We’ve had a lot of conversations on the off-chance when this all came down. Obviously, we expected it later in the year. We had a lot of conversations about it. AJ is one of those people that absolutely wants to give back and be a part of this business,” said Triple H. “I don’t want to speak for him, but the conversations that he had with me, he made it very clear that he was just done with the in-ring. There’s a point when you just reach in your career where you say, I don’t want to do this anymore, and when your heart goes, no matter how good you are — he hasn’t lost a step, at anything — but when you just say, I’m just at a place when I don’t wanna do this anymore, it’s time,” the WWE CCO said.
