MJF Sheds Light On Australia’s Chlamydia Outbreak In Koalas
MJF has a lot he doesn’t like about Australia.
The AEW World Champion appeared on Today Australia to promote this weekend’s AEW Grand Slam: Australia event. The hosts, Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo, began by asking MJF what his issues with Australia were.
MJF started by saying koalas are known to be cute animals, but he found out that most of them have a sexually transmitted disease.
“OK, so I was told about koalas. I was told they were these beautiful, lovely, stunning creatures. They all have syphilis,” MJF said. “Why does nobody discuss that? This is a real issue.”
The hosts were good sports and played along, noting that koalas actually carry chlamydia, not syphilis.
“They also have big claws, so when you annoy them, they’re going to claw your eyes out,” Abo said.
“I also heard there’s a drop bear issue,” MJF replied. “They jump down from the trees, and then they attack people, viciously.”
“Only people like you,” Stefanovic added.
Koalas having chlamydia is actually a real problem in Australia
According to Wildlife Health Australia, chlamydia is extremely common in wild and captive koalas. It’s unclear why the marsupials are so susceptible to the disease, but adult koalas contract it the same way people do, through sexual transmission. Young koalas can also get the disease by eating pap, a nutritious type of feces, from infected mothers. The disease can be fatal in koalas, but Australia recently approved a vaccine to protect koalas from it.
Karl and Sarah their verbal sparring with MJF, who revealed a few more things that bother him about the Land Down Under.
MJF said his real issue with Australians is that the people talk funny and the food is just ‘OK.’ MJF also said the beaches in the United States are much better, and challenged someone to come shut him up at AEW Grand Slam Australia.
