Killer Kelly Says WWE Star ‘Deserves Everything That He’s Getting’

Killer Kelly praises her former coach, Gunther.

For a number of years, wrestling fans knew him as Walter, an indie scene standout and the head trainer of wXw Academy. Now, they know him as Gunther, a two-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion and “The Career Killer” who sent AJ Styles, John Cena, and Goldberg into retirement.

WrestleZone’s Ella Jay recently sat down with Killer Kelly, one of Gunther’s former students and a standout in her own right, to discuss his rise into WWE stardom. According to Kelly, it is nothing but well deserved.

“Oh my God, he deserves everything,” she said. “He’s been one of the best wrestling minds that I’ve ever met. And in the ring, he’s so f***ing smart. He’s so smart. His presence in the ring, that’s one of the things as well, it inspired me, just his presence, the aura. I was like, I have to have that. That’s why I worked so hard on that. He deserves everything that he’s getting, and he deserves even more. He helped a bunch of people. He’s in a position that he is, he should have been in that position a long time ago. He’s really good. He’s great. He’s one of the greatest.”

Killer Kelly Recalls Gunther’s Brutal Honesty

Looking back on her wXw training days, Kelly recalled Gunther being “brutally honest” in his feedback, to the point that Kelly admittedly felt dejected sometimes. Upon further reflection, though, Kelly came to realize that his honesty was a sign of his care for his students.

“He’s so f***ing honest that to a point that I would be so sad,” Kelly said. “I’d be like, ‘Why are you treating me like this?’ Then I would think about that, well, because he f***ing cares. He doesn’t want to teach little crybabies. I was like, ‘Okay, yeah, you got a point, Walter. I’ll take your advice.’ It worked out very well for me.”

Currently, Gunther is on the hunt to secure himself an Undisputed WWE Championship match at WWE WrestleMania 42. To do that, he’ll first have to win a qualifying match, then the Men’s Elimination Chamber. Meanwhile, Kelly is enjoying her time as a free agent following her departure from TNA.
