Long-time WWE director Kerwin Silfies has passed away at the age of 75.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com reported that Kerwin Silfies, who was the Director of several WWE programs and specials, passed away last night. He was residing in Florida and was reportedly dealing with some health issues privately.

Kerwin Silfies joined WWE/WWF in 1985 and worked there for many years until getting furloughed during the COVID-19 pandemic. He never returned to the company after the furlough, and Marty Miller, who currently directs RAW, replaced him.

He has directed several Saturday Night’s Main Event specials in the 80’s era, the first WWE shows in Saudi Arabia, and many more. Company executive Bruce Prichard has also credited Kerwin Silfies for his exceptional eye for character vignettes, specifically the ones used establish Curt Hennig as Mr. Perfect in the late 1980s.

Apart from his WWE work, Silfies is also credited for directing the 2007 documentary, The Last Full Measure, based on the Battle of Gettysburg. His first name was the inspiration for Chavo Guerrero’s Kerwin White character.

While he stayed out of the spotlight throughout his career, Kerwin Silfies appeared on Peacock’s recent documentary on WWE’s Wrestlemania IX. Fans and wrestling personalities have started paying tribute to the legendary director on social media.

WWE had also recently lost one of its long-time production crew members, Jim Shank, on Friday, February 6.

WrestleZone sends deepest condolences to Kerwin Silfies’ family, friends, fans, and co-workers.
