Jeff Hardy shares his plans for ‘Recovery.’

TNA is set to hit Nashville, Atlanta and New Orleans in the coming weeks, with Music City on tap for February 13 and 14. Both Hardys have plenty of history in each city. New Orleans is especially noteworthy in regard to their WWE careers.

One of Jeff’s most infamous matches was Extreme Rules 2009, where he faced Edge in a ladder match, only to have CM Punk cash his Money In The Bank contract in after the match. Matt also won the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34 and hosted a Woken parade during the build-up to the event.

The latter reflected on having the spotlight on him in New Orleans during a recent interview with WrestleZone, noting how he spent much of that year working with the late Bray Wyatt. Matt highlighted how his friend’s untimely passing makes those moments more important, and he’s thankful he got that opportunity.

Matt Hardy reflects on being Woken with Bray Wyatt in WWE

“There are definitely moments you always remember and carry with you as time goes on. You have very important, special moments that you kind of tie to certain cities, no doubt. Obviously, having those moments, especially with Windham [Rotunda] being gone, is crazy,” Matt Hardy explained. “It still doesn’t seem like Bray isn’t with us. It feels like he is, we just haven’t seen him in forever. It’s crazy that he passed away, but that made those moments even more important.

“When I came to WWE and started the Broken and Woken Matt Hardy thing, I worked with him for about a year straight. That was very memorable, man. I’m so happy that was one thing Vince [McMahon] was open to, after he went to the Lake of Reincarnation and changed into a more pure character. We kind of cleared out Sister Abigail to a degree, and ultimately, that led him to become The Fiend. You really do think about those moments.”

Will we ever see Matt vs. Jeff Hardy again?

Matt and Jeff also have important history in Atlanta, too. It’s where they faced off against each other at WrestleMania 25. The brothers are on the same page now and as popular as ever, but is there a scenario where they could see themselves squaring off again?

“I don’t know. I mean, I would never say never,” Matt shared. “That’s one thing I’ve learned in my 34 years in this business. I think something that would be interesting—and something we’ve talked about a little— putting a little twist on the Hardys and evolving in a new direction, maybe after this whole program with The Righteous finishes up.”

Jeff then shared that he does have an outline for a match that he’s calling “The Final Recovery.”

“I do have a script I’ve written up. It’s for a match called The Final Recovery. It’s kind of like my version of The Final Deletion,” Jeff revealed. “I’m hoping we get a chance to do it sometime in the near future if I can get everybody on board.”

Matt said the Hardys’ feud with The Righteous in TNA could potentially act as a bridge to a potential character shift, setting up other entertaining things. One thing he ruled out, however, was that Jeff would be able to do it as heel.

“I think especially this guy [points at Jeff] is way past being a heel. It’s going to be hard to get him out of the way. It’d be like John Cena — it’d be like swimming upstream,” Matt said. “But I think it could turn into some really entertaining content. And I think he could take us in a direction that people would enjoy.”

Tickets for TNA events in all three cities are available now on the TNA website and AXS.
