CM Punk Honors WWE Veteran Jim Shank, Who Passed Away After Battling Colon Cancer
CM Punk pays his tribute to WWE veteran Jim Shank, who passed away due to Colon Cancer last week.
Joining WWE in 1999, Jim Shank rose through the ranks in the company to become a Technical Operations Manager. He was responsible for operating the robotic and remote-controlled camera systems in recent years. After a lengthy battle with Colorectal Cancer, Shank passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, only a few weeks after celebrating his 60th birthday.
WWE honored the late veteran with a post-show tribute after this week’s episode of RAW. Now, World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk has paid his respects to Jim Shank. Taking to his Instagram stories, he posted an image of Shank with the caption, “Rest easy my friend [saluting face emoji].”
CM Punk is set for World Heavyweight title defense at WWE Elimination Chamber
After winning the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble match, Roman Reigns decided to face CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42. While reports state that the contest could be the main event of the second night of WrestleMania 42, Punk has a roadblock ahead of him he needs to cross before he can think of facing the OTC.
During this week’s episode of WWE RAW, Finn Balor, who CM Punk had defeated to retain the championship on the January 19 episode of the red brand, came out to the ring to demand another opportunity. Balor had attacked Punk during the latter’s title defense against AJ Styles on January 26.
While General Manager Adam Pearce attempted to de-escalate the situation, CM Punk came out and accepted Balor’s challenge. The two superstars will now collide for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Elimination Chamber. The event will take place at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, on February 28.
