CM Punk might have one more stop on the road to Roman Reigns and WrestleMania.

Monday’s episode of RAW saw Roman Reigns officially challenge CM Punk to a world title match at WrestleMania 42. It doesn’t appear that anything (or anyone) could get in the way of such a marquee matchup. According to WrestleVotes (via Fightful Select), however, Punk might have one more title defense before clashing with Reigns.

The outlet notes that although Finn Balor lost his title match to Punk in Ireland, there are still plans for Balor vs. Punk being pitched for the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event. It was noted that this was a pitch “as of February 2,” which was Monday.

How would Finn Balor get another match with CM Punk?

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp noted that a CM Punk match has always been the plan since Elimination Chamber is in his hometown of Chicago. One plan for a match with Balor would see him accept the rematch on “his turf,” since Balor got one in Europe.

Finn Balor has not competed since January 19, when he lost to Punk on WWE RAW. Since then, Balor has made it clear that he intends to get the title back, adding that he’s sick of being taken for granted. During his promo on RAW, Balor teased doing bad things to get what he wants.

CM Punk continues to look towards the future, as he recently pitched a stipulation for a match with Seth Rollins. Punk also hopes Drew McIntyre stays champion so they could potentially meet again at WWE Crown Jewel.
