Update on Cody Rhodes’ Direction Following WWE Championship Loss
A new update has emerged regarding Cody Rhodes’ direction following his WWE Championship loss.
For months, Cody Rhodes was involved in an intense rivalry with Drew McIntyre. The feud became more personal when McIntyre brought up Rhodes’ late father. Tensions continued to rise as both men refused to back down.
The rivalry reached its peak last week on WWE SmackDown in Berlin during a brutal Three Stages of Hell match for the WWE Undisputed Championship. Drew McIntyre won the first fall by pinfall after using a low blow and following it up with a Claymore Kick while the referee was distracted.
Cody Rhodes quickly fought back in the second fall. He turned the momentum in his favor with a hard-hitting attack. Rhodes evened the score by hitting a Cross Rhodes through the announce table in a Falls Count Anywhere match.
The final fall took place inside a steel cage. Both men fought desperately as they tried to escape. Jacob Fatu suddenly returned and shocked everyone by attacking both competitors. Amid the chaos, Drew McIntyre escaped through the cage door to win the match and capture the WWE Championship for the fourth time.
Following the title loss, new insight into Rhodes’ future direction was shared by Bodyslam.net reporter Cory Hays. When asked on X, formerly known as, Twitter, how close Rhodes is to turning heel.
Hays clarified that WWE is planning something different. He said a noticeable character change rather than a full heel turn. He wrote, “Not a turn but a character shift.”
Following, McIntyre has been celebrating his championship victory across social media and live events. The new champion even marked the win in his home country of Glasgow, Scotland, where he defeated Shinsuke Nakamura at a recent live event.
Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes has remained silent on his loss. With WWE reportedly planning a refreshed direction for Rhodes, it will be interesting to see what unfolds next.
