More Details On Andrade’s WWE Departure
WWE released Andrade during his second run with the company.
Reports revealed this past weekend that Andrade had left WWE, despite having about 18 months left on his contract. WWE also moved him to the alumni section of its website. Shortly after his release, Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE fired Andrade over a disciplinary issue.
He explained that Andrade was sent home from a TV taping a few weeks ago and hadn’t been used since with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp confirmed hearing the same. Now Jon Alba of Sports Illustrated reported that Andrade’s release was not mutual.
According to Alba, Andrade had at least one wellness policy violation during his most recent run. It’s unclear how he violated the policy or if he tested positive for a banned substance, but sources said the company suspended him without pay as a result.
It was noted that Andrade had not been backstage at WWE SmackDown recently and was removed from internal rosters. He was told to leave a taping last month and was escorted out of the building.
A top source said this incident was connected to his suspension and disrupted major creative plans for his tag team with Rey Fenix. Cory Hays of Bodyslam also shared that WWE had tried to reach him for weeks without success. With the SmackDown incident said to have taken place in mid-August.
PWInsider reported that Andrade could not be reached for several weeks after leaving the United States to travel to a country in South America. He did not respond to WWE’s attempts to contact him. It was also mentioned that a problem came from Andrade turning down a request to work for AAA.
Andrade returned to WWE at the 2024 Royal Rumble after leaving AEW in late 2023. His final match took place at WWE SummerSlam in a six-man tag team titles ladder match.
