Report: Gunther Set For Surgery Following WWE SummerSlam
It appears that we’ll be without Gunther for a bit following his match with CM Punk at WWE SummerSlam on Saturday night.
The Ring General lost his World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of SummerSlam night one to CM Punk. In the closing moments of the match, Gunther’s nose was seemingly busted open from a spot on the commentary table. However, this was done by design.
Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio reports that he was told days before SummerSlam that Gunther was set to have surgery on his nose following the event. Meltzer also confirmed that the blood spot in his match with Punk was worked blood.
The severity of the injury is currently unknown. There’s no indication of how long The Ring General will be out as of this writing.
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
