John Cena Comments On What He Told Cody Rhodes During Emotional SummerSlam Moment
John Cena had an emotional exchange with Cody Rhodes at the end of SummerSlam, but what was said between the two wrestling legends?
Cena defended his WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes in the main event of night two of SummerSlam on Sunday night. Rhodes ultimately walked away with the title. Now, it seems likely that Cena has a feud with a returning Brock Lesnar lined up.
Before Brock Lesnar attacked him, John Cena shared a special moment in the ring with Cody Rhodes. Cena whispered something in Cody’s ear, which moved the new champion to tears. The message was not very easy to make out due to the lack of a microphone and the noise in the stadium. Cody could be seen saying, “Thank you for everything” to Cena at the end, but not much else is known about the exchange.
What did John Cena say to Cody Rhodes?
John Cena recently spoke with Adam Glyn for Adam’s Apple about how he’s feeling after WWE SummerSlam. During the exchange, Glyn asked if Cena could share what he and Rhodes said to each other in the ring. Instead, Cena elected to keep that between himself and Rhodes, although he said that if anyone does find out what was said, it wouldn’t be from him.
“Well, if the world finds out about that, they won’t find out about it from me,” John Cena said in response. “Because that was between me and him.”
During the interview, John Cena also commented on how he’s feeling about Brock Lesnar being back in WWE. At SummerSlam, Paul “Triple H” Levesque hinted that Cena had Brock Lesnar on his retirement tour wish list. However, Michael Cole addressed the situation on WWE RAW on Monday. There, he revealed who made the first move to bring Lesnar “home” again.
