Jake Hager Confirms His In-Ring Retirement, Reveals New Business He Started

Jake Hager closed one chapter of his professional career and looks forward to the new one he recently started.
Hager, formerly known as Jack Swagger, was a guest on Saraya’s Rulebreakers podcast. During the conversation, Hager confirmed that he now considers himself retired from pro wrestling. In addition, Hager said he started a new trucking business in Florida with a punny name.
“I’m getting out of wrestling. I’m pretty much — I can say I’m retired from it. I started a trucking company, so I’m running routes through Tampa and Florida. I’m not driving, not me,” Jake Hager shared with Saraya. “Yeah, I got people driving. I’m excited, it’s something to sink my teeth into. Hard work always pays off.”
Hager then confirmed that the trucking company is called “Haulin’ Oats,” a pun on the name of the popular pop/rock duo Hall & Oates.
“I think I’m witty,” Hager added.
Jake Hager started winding down his in-ring career in 2024
Hager recently spent five-plus years with All Elite Wrestling, debuting on the inaugural episode of AEW Dynamite in October 2019. He spent the majority of his tenure aligned with Chris Jericho, but left when his contract expired in May 2024.
Since then, he took on several independent bookings, including an appearance in AIW’s 2014 JT Lightning Invitational Tournament. Jake Hager last wrestled for Banger Zone Wrestling in France in November 2024. His last televised match was a loss to Roderick Strong on the February 23 episode of AEW Rampage.
Prior to this, Hager spent eleven years in WWE as Jack Swagger. During his time in WWE, Hager won the World Heavyweight Championship, WWE United States Championship and ECW Championship. He was also the 2010 Men’s Money in the Bank winner.
