The Undertaker On Getting Fined For Chair Shots To The Head

During a recent appearance on the “Mic Check with Mr. Anderson” podcast, The Undertaker opened up about receiving fines for using a banned move. The WWE Hall of Famer also reflected on delivering a nasty chair shot to Mr. Kennedy that stunned everyone.

The Deadman recalled the time when he and Triple H were instructed not to deliver chair shots to the head. Yet both former WWE World Champions proceeded to do so in their match at WrestleMania. As a consequence, Vince McMahon fined both of them, which they discovered when they received their paychecks. ‘Taker said,

“We [Undertaker & Triple H] already had the directive that, ‘No chair shots to the head.’ And we’re like, ‘Man, if we need it, what do you think?’ He’s [Triple H] like, ‘Yeah we’re not supposed to.’ I could tell he was leaning my way on this, and I was like, ‘All right man, I am his [Vince McMahon’s] most tenured guy, you’re his son-in-law. Surely, we can do it. We can get away with that.’ So, we had the match. [Hit a] chair shot. I think I took the chair shot to the head. Came back, and he [McMahon] wasn’t hot. But you could tell he was hot, but he wasn’t screaming or hollering or anything like that.”

He added, “Where it came back was, is when I got paid for it and there was that big minus. He fined the sh*t out of us. As soon as I got my check, I’m looking like, ‘Holy sh*t.’ So, I called Paul [Levesque] right away. I said, ‘Hey man, you got your Mania check?’ He goes, ‘Yep.’ And I was like, ‘Did you get big minus? Did you get fined too?’ And he went, ‘Yep.’ I was like, ‘Son of a b*tch.'”

The Undertaker Opens Up About Brutal Spot With Former WWE Star Mr. Kennedy

The Phenom also discussed his approach to delivering chair shots, stating that he always used full force. The WWE Hall of Famer believed this was safer and more impactful than a light hit, regardless of whether Mr. Kennedy or any opponent tried to block it. He said,

“I’ve been accused of a lot of things. But, the consistency with my chair shot, I’m very upfront. It doesn’t matter if it’s head, if it’s to the back. You know, if I am going to swing a chair, I’m going to swing it, because there’s nothing to me that looks worse than a pitter-patter chair shot like I would hit one of my kids with. I always felt like I was extremely safe, I guess as safe as you can be hitting somebody in the head with a chair. And I don’t care if you take it or if you put your hands up. I don’t care because the impact, the force of the chair shot is going to be the same either way. So, it is just the way it is and that one gets played back quite a bit.”
