TNA shocked fans by cutting ties with longtime producer/agent Gail Kim earlier this year. The company’s current President, Carlos Silva, opened up about Kim’s release during an appearance on the Ariel Helwani Show this week. Silva said Kim’s release was one of many “hard decisions” he had to make, but said it was done in an effort to reinvigorate the TNA roster.

“I had to make a couple of hard decisions. Not just with Gail, but with a few other staff,” Silva told Helwani. “When things are going a little bit well, that’s not the time to sit and be happy. Everyone is chomping to try and get you. We kind of got a little more aggressive in making changes we thought we needed to make to reinvigorate the locker room, maybe reinvigorate the Knockouts Division, which I think we’ve done. Elevate a few people that needed to be elevated and give them more responsibility.”

Silva called releasing Gail Kim the “most difficult decision” he had to make as TNA President so far. Despite the initial feelings about moves like Kim’s departure, Silva said that people have “responded well” to things.

Gail Kim has since responded to Silva’s remarks on Twitter/X. Kim said that she too, was trying to reinvigorate the Knockouts division long before Silva’s arrival in TNA.

“On comments recently about the KO division needing to be reinvigorated, I want to let it be known that I was pushing for that for a year plus before Carlos Silva came in,” Gail Kim wrote on Twitter/X. “To grow homegrown talent and do more with the KO division. I was fighting for that since Scott departed.

“My loyalty and passion towards the KO division should never be questioned and how I wanted that division to be upheld,” she added. “I fought for them on the weekly. Just wanted my thoughts to be clearly delivered.”
