Maven Comments On His WWE Exit, AJ Francis Aims To Dethrone Oba Femi
In his latest YouTube video, Maven discussed his final match in WWE and his departure from the company.
Maven’s last match saw him lose a six-man tag team contest on June 20, 2005. The former WWE Superstar reflected on becoming complacent and not recognizing the issues that led to his exit. Maven said,
“Now, there were a lot of positives during this time. But with hindsight being 20/20, I didn’t see all the negatives that would lead to this being my last match. For instance, on days when we were there for a Monday Night Raw or a SmackDown, if I wasn’t utilized in the show, I would go off-site to get a workout in. We all know, ‘Out of sight, out of mind.’ If they start looking for you throughout the arena and they can’t find you, that tells them that you’re unreliable, that you aren’t there for the greater good of the show, that you’re a selfish person, that you’re only there for yourself.”
He continued, “I asked once if I could go off-site to work out on a day when I wasn’t going to be used, and the answer was yes. From that moment on, I abused that privilege. Looking back, I wish I just would have stayed where I was. By far the biggest reason was that I wasn’t bettering myself. I was content with progressing up the ladder at the rate I was, and I wasn’t trying to speed up that progression any. I should have shown everyone there that I was going to do everything in my power to be the best I could be, and I just didn’t.”
TNA wrestler AJ Francis is confident he can defeat Oba Femi for the WWE NXT World Championship.
Francis is currently appearing in NXT and is allied with TNA World Champion Trick Williams, as part of First Class.
During a recent appearance on the “Muscle Memory” podcast, Francis expressed his desire to return the favor by winning the NXT World Title from Femi. He said,
“I’ve been saying Oba. I’ve been saying that. Currently, the TNA World Champion is a person who is contracted to NXT. I think it wouldn’t be too crazy of an idea for the NXT World Champion to be contracted to TNA.”
He continued, “I know that Oba be bullying these other boys, but he can’t bully me. He can’t throw me around like he do these other boys. He can’t throw me around like he do these other boys. I’m bigger than him. I’m stronger than him. I don’t have as good as accent as him. He’s got better hair than me. In that ring? Come on, man, me and Oba? Let’s talk about it, shout out Trick Willy. I’m going to put Oba out of commission. I’m going to make sure that we can have an NXT Champion that TNA can be proud of.”
