Sammy Guevara Shares How Fatherhood Has Changed How He Wrestles
Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo became parents in November 2023, and this change has affected how the ‘Spanish God’ competes in the ring.
In a new interview with Pwinsider, Guevara reflected on vowing to avoid taking risks now that he has a child to provide for. He said,
“When I first became a dad, I said I’d take it easier… and then every match after that, I was jumping off ladders through tables.. Yeah, I try to be smarter about it now. Wrestling is a high-risk game, especially with my style.”
Guevara is one-half of the current ROH World Tag Team Champions and holds the titles alongside Dustin Rhodes, one-third of the ROH Six Man Tag-Team Champions.
The pair will challenge for the AEW World Tag Team Titles at Double or Nothing 2025, an opportunity Guevara is ready to risk it all for. He said,
“You have to ask yourself: when is the risk worth it? This Sunday, it might be.”
Guevara and Rhodes will challenge The Hurt Syndicate’s Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin, who won the titles earlier this year.
