Conflicting Report On Charlotte Flair & Tiffany Stratton Promo Segment Going Off Script

WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton and her top challenger, Charlotte Flair, got personal during their promo segment on last week’s episode of WWE SmackDown.

Stratton pointed out that Flair has a record of 0-3 in marriages following her divorce from Andrade. In response, Flair shot back with a comment regarding Stratton’s real-life boyfriend, Ludwig Kaiser, claiming that he’s been sending her private messages.

Many in WWE believed that Stratton’s jabs were in response to Flair running over her during the split-screen interview segment on SmackDown.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has shared a contradictory report, noting that most, if not all, of the segment actually did happen as it was written.

According to the report, backstage issues between Flair and Stratton have been ongoing for several weeks, originating from the split-screen interview.

It was believed that Flair “steamrolled” Stratton during that segment, making her look weak. This latest segment was designed to showcase Stratton’s revenge.

Most of Stratton’s scripted lines included one where she called Flair a “failed volleyball player drinking in her father’s basement” and stated, “no matter how many titles she wins, she’ll never be Ric Flair and never win over the fans.”

The volleyball comment, in particular, is one that Stratton wouldn’t likely have crafted on her own, as she wouldn’t have known about Flair’s activities at 25. It was written to sound like a genuine shoot, and sources indicate that the entire segment unfolded as intended, despite earlier reports suggesting it veered off script.

Conversely, other sources imply heat on both women, especially Flai, who appeared to be affected by the Chicago crowd’s boos directed at her. Flair’s mockery of Stratton’s voice wasn’t part of the script.

Moreover, the moment when Flair paused and offered to let Stratton have the final word wasn’t pre-planned either. Stratton then delivered her “0-3” line and left the ring like a true heel, reportedly due to uncertainty about Flair’s response.

One source claimed the line was scripted, while those with more insider knowledge said it wasn’t. Flair’s remark about Kaiser was also not included in the script.

One source noted, Charlotte has been trying to rattle Tiffany. Standard stuff. Cena does it. Randy does it. Young talent coming up, you put a little heat on them as a test to get them to either sink or swim. Well, Charlotte has f***ed this whole program by not adjusting. Last night (Friday) she got stuck. That Chicago crowd ate her up because they can see she’s doing more than business, she’s trying to embarrass Tiffany.

Another source stated, Once Charlotte let the fans get to her, that’s where it all fell apart. She gave up and said the line, `Tiffany, you can have the last word,’ because she was done with the fans at that point. The three minutes prior to that was scripted. The 25-year-old drinker was scripted. The 4-3 Mania record line was scripted. Tiff stumbled over a word and that’s when Charlotte took a personal shot at Tiffany’s voice. That was a shoot. 16 more days/being called nepo baby was scripted. Charlotte screaming Nepo Queen was not.

Most accounts agree that Flair is primarily being blamed for the way the segment fell apart, although sources noted that both women played their part in it.

One veteran pointed out that what was once a “limited story” with a “weak build” has now become “very substantial.”
