Danhausen Credits CM Punk for Helping Him Become a Wrestler
WWE star Danhausen has credited CM Punk for his career and he explained Punk’s influence on his wrestling journey.
The two have developed a close and humorous relationship. Danhausen frequently praises Punk while also joking around with him. Their friendship often creates funny moments online. Punk has also playfully acted annoyed by Danhausen’s antics.
Danhausen has jokingly demanded money and comic books from Punk. Earlier this year, Danhausen joined WWE after leaving AEW. Reports later claimed Punk strongly advocated for WWE signing him.
Danhausen has now revealed how important Punk was. He believes he wouldn’t have become a wrestler without him.
WWE star Danhausen says CM Punk inspired his wrestling career
Speaking on Hot Ones: Extra Heat, Danhausen explained how CM Punk brought him back toward wrestling. He said, “Well, he’s Danhausen’s reason for wrestling. Danhausen wouldn’t be a wrestler without CM Punk. So he got Danhausen to rewatch wrestling and then decide, ‘oh, I should take over the world with wrestling. That’s a good idea.'”
Danhausen explained that several of Punk’s interests also connected with him. “Because you dip out of stuff sometimes and then you see something that sucks you back in. Inspiration. He was the person who sucked me back in with the… the horror and the comics and the hardcore punk music and everything like that was all drawn back in.”
He continued, “These were similar interests, and I went, ‘I like that guy. That guy is Danhausen on TV.’ Then that’s where Danhausen comes in with that. Wee become friends. We become acquaintances and then friends, and then he’s a bit of a mentor but also a great friend. But he owes me money.” [H/T: Fightful]
