AEW’s PAC Was Believed To Be Heading to Andy Williams’ Memorial on Day of His Death
AEW star PAC may have been on his way to a memorial honoring his late friend Andy Williams on the day of his death, according to a new report.
PAC, whose real name was Benjamin Satterley, was found unresponsive inside a rental car in Des Plaines, Illinois, on September 27. He was 40 years old.
Satterley had wrestled at AEW All Out the previous night, where he faced Andrade El Idolo. He also appeared during the AEW World Championship main event between Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay.
PAC and Williams, who performed in AEW as The Butcher, were reportedly very close. PAC had previously paid tribute to Williams following his death earlier this month.
Williams died on September 5 after collapsing during an independent wrestling event in Pennsylvania. A public celebration of life was held at Buffalo RiverWorks on September 27, according to Williams’ obituary.
Williams was also a founding member and guitarist for the band Every Time I Die. He joined AEW alongside The Blade in 2019 and remained closely connected to the promotion’s wrestling community.
People Close To PAC Believed He Was Heading To Andy Williams’ Memorial
The possibility of PAC attending Williams’ memorial was discussed by Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer said people who knew PAC believed he may have been trying to attend the public memorial for Williams in Buffalo, New York.
Meltzer stressed that he could not confirm PAC was actually traveling to the memorial. He noted that people close to the AEW star believed that may have been his destination.
PAC had already attended another memorial for Williams several weeks earlier. Meltzer noted that distinction while discussing the possibility that PAC was heading to the September 27 gathering.
“I don’t know this, but there were people who knew him that thought that that’s what he was doing,” Meltzer said. [H/T Ringside News]
Meltzer added that he could not say with certainty that PAC was going to the public memorial because the AEW star had already attended the earlier gathering for Williams.
The timing was particularly notable because word of PAC’s death reportedly reached people while Williams’ memorial was taking place.
PAC’s final social media post had also been dedicated to Williams. Satterley shared a photograph with Williams on September 17 while paying tribute to his friend. The post resurfaced following PAC’s death.
PAC’s death was announced by AEW on September 28. The Cook County Medical Examiner later confirmed that an autopsy had been performed, while his cause and manner of death remained pending additional testing.
Authorities have said there were no indications of foul play or trauma and that Satterley’s death did not appear suspicious.
