Richard Holliday’s WWE Move Looks Less Certain — Report
Richard Holliday’s possible move to WWE may not be happening as soon as fans originally expected. He has been one of the most talked-about names on the independent wrestling scene when it comes to a possible WWE signing. Earlier reports suggested that the former MLW star attended WWE tryouts. Other reports claimed that WWE wanted to bring him into the fold.
However, while Holliday’s name pops up internally, the latest update suggests there has been no major movement toward him actually signing with WWE.
Latest WWE report details the status of Richard Holliday and potential signing plans
According to Fightful Select, the same WWE sources who previously believed Holliday would sign with WWE have not heard anything new about the progress of a deal.
“When we followed up with the same WWE sources that said they expected Richard Holliday to get signed in recent months, they claimed his name has consistently been brought up in recent years, but they haven’t heard movement on him coming into the company,” the report stated.
The rumors around Holliday picked up last month at GCW’s Melee in Manchester event. After his match against Bear Bronson, Holliday left his boots in the ring while fans chanted “thank you Rich.”
Because WWE had reportedly shown interest in Holliday, many saw the moment as a possible goodbye to the independent wrestling scene. Holliday added even more mystery recently when he posted on social media and said he would soon explain what was going on.
The timing immediately got fans talking. His message came during the same weekend as NXT Heatwave. This led some people to wonder if he was preparing for a surprise appearance.
However, the latest report makes the situation even more complicated. At this point, there is no known movement toward a WWE deal.
