On the July 6 episode of RAW, Punk returned after being away for more than two months. He defeated Sami Zayn in the main event to win the Undisputed WWE Championship. The victory completely changed the title picture ahead of SummerSlam and also welcomed some criticism from the pro wrestling world.
A video shared on social media now shows Punk delivering a quick comeback following his win that has kind of divided wrestling fans once again.
CM Punk responds to fan with a sarcastic comeback
The clip shows Punk greeting fans after the match when one person interacted with him. After shaking hands with Punk, the fan said, “You were an a**hole to me 10 years ago.”
Punk smiled and instantly replied, “Awesome! It’s probably because you’re an a**hole!”
The crowd around them laughed, and Punk appeared to enjoy the moment before moving on.
The video got mixed reactions from fans across social media. Some praised Punk’s sense of humor and felt the fan invited the response by bringing up something from 10 years ago. Others said it was another example of Punk’s blunt personality outside the ring.
CM Punk has always had a special connection with wrestling fans. Inside the ring, he is known for getting strong reactions whether he is playing a babyface or a heel. Chicago has always been different. No matter what role he is playing, the hometown crowd usually roots for him.
Outside the ring, though, Punk has always been clear about setting personal boundaries. He often stays after WWE events to interact with fans. But he has also confronted fans many times, as he doesn’t like being approached in places like airports or hotels because he believes wrestlers deserve privacy.
