Kevin Owens shares an emotional reaction to his best friend Sami Zayn’s shocking Undisputed WWE Championship victory.
After over a decade of chasing the title, Sami Zayn finally had his crowning moment at WWE Night of Champions last night. He defeated Cody Rhodes and Gunther in the main event to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion and also became a grand slam champion in the process.
Sami Zayn gave an emotional speech after the match. He responded to all the doubters, saying that, after not receiving the recognition he deserved for over a decade, he stands before them as the new Undisputed WWE Champion. Many wrestling personalities from across promotions shared their reactions to Zayn’s moment, and his best friend, Kevin Owens, also shared an emotional message.

Taking to X/Twitter, Kevin Owens posted a heartfelt message congratulating Sami Zayn on winning the Undisputed WWE Championship. He expressed deep regret for missing the moment due to his recovery from injury. Owens highlighted their long-standing bond and shared some personal photos of him annoying his best friend, including one where Zayn helps him put on a sock in a Texas hotel.
“I’ve missed a lot of things I wish I hadn’t in the last 15 months because of this injury but today is, by far, the one I wish I had been there for the most. He has brought out the best in me as both an ally and a foe. That’s because he is THE best. When you’re consistently that good for that long, you become undeniable,” Owens wrote.
Sami becoming WWE Champion was inevitable. He has deserved that moment for a very long time and I am so happy to see him finally get it. Now enjoy these pictures of me annoying him at various stages of our careers. The last one is him putting on my sock in a hotel room in the middle of nowhere in Texas because I thought I had broken my back the night before and could not move. He had to help me put on my boxers too. Look how happy he is… Now tell me he doesn’t deserve to be champion!” Kevin Owens’ post read.
