AJ Lee Wants Saraya To Experience How Much Fun WWE Is Now
AJ Lee wants to run it back with Saraya in WWE.
During her recent interview with Rick Ucchino on The Takedown on SI, reigning WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion AJ Lee noted that if she could bring someone back, she’d like to see Saraya (Paige) and Kaitlyn return to the promotion.
“I love Paige… if I could bring somebody back, her and Kaitlyn. Let’s get them back,” AJ Lee said.
AJ Lee teamed up with Saraya in her last two matches before she left the WWE in 2015, one of which took place at WrestleMania 31. Now, Lee notes that WWE has come a long way since then and that she’d love to see Saraya return and experience how fun the promotion has become.
“It would be great,” AJ Lee said. “She’s so talented and I knew it from day one. We’d always joke that I was her fairy godmother and I just took her under my wing and tried to protect her. And just to see her now, it would be kind of heartwarming and healing, and she would be a great addition to this locker room. I think this place has really come a long way and the women work together so beautifully, and they’re so supportive. I would love for her to experience just how fun it is now.”
Saraya left WWE in June 2022 and signed with AEW two months later. After getting cleared for in-ring competition, she returned to the ring in November that year and stayed with the promotion until her exit in 2025. While rumors of her WWE return emerge now and then, it hasn’t materialized so far. Kaitlyn retired from wrestling in December 2019.
AJ Lee is also open to working with the Bella Twins
Speaking further, AJ Lee noted that she’s open to working with her old rivals, the Bella Twins and Naomi. Lee also expressed that she’d love to get in the ring with current WWE stars like Lyra Valkyria, Roxanne Perez, Liv Morgan, Stephanie Vaquer, and Rhea Ripley.
“I think the fans would really love to see me and the Bellas again, or me and Naomi. We never really got to like kill it, but she is just one of those people who every time I was in the ring with her, I felt so at my absolute best. She brings that out of you,” AJ Lee said.
“There’s such [an abundance of] wonderful, exciting new talent that I think can show me so much,” AJ Lee said. “The way [her generation] maybe started an evolution, they continue it and then now we can learn from them. And it’s this really cool circle of moving the business forward. So I’d love to get in there with Lyra and Roxanne and Liv and Stephanie and Rhea. Gosh, there’s so many people that I would just [be] a blast to work with.”
AJ Lee will compete at WrestleMania for the first time in over a decade when she puts her Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the line on Night One of WrestleMania 42 on Saturday, April 18.
