WWE Signs Indie Wrestling Standout — Report

The rumors of WWE getting their hands on a top indie name look to be true after all.

WWE has reportedly signed a standout performer on the independent circuit. According to Bodyslam.net, Nikki Blackheart is no longer an independent talent, as she has been signed to a contract by the company.

“Sources indicate to Bodyslam that Nikki Blackheart has signed a deal with WWE and is expected to report to the Performance Center soon,” the report noted.

Blackheart was among several athletes and independent wrestlers who took part in the WWE Performance Center tryouts in February. Bodyslam further noted that Blackheart impressed the company with her performance and that “they moved rather quickly to sign her.”

Bodyslam’s report was mentioned by Fightful (via Fightful Select), which noted that although they could not confirm the initial report, WWE has had its eye on Nikki Blackheart for quite some time.

Before the reports of her WWE signing, Blackheart shared on Instagram that she had been invited to attend a WWE tryout camp. She called the opportunity a “pinch me moment” and thanked the people who supported her along the way.

Blackheart dropped the MPX Women’s Championship to Priscilla Kelly (fka Gigi Dolin) on Saturday, and Winnipeg Pro Wrestling announced on Sunday that she would no longer be appearing at the Voyageur Cup.

It’s worth mentioning that Nikki Blackheart was one of the names invited to attend WWE Superstar Bayley’s Lodestone Wrestling Seminar. Fans can read more about that here.
