The Dogs Are In AEW To Bite The Heads Off Of Very Famous Wrestlers

The Dogs picked a fight with two of AEW’s biggest names for a reason.

WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard spoke with The Dogs’ David Finlay, Clark Connors and Gabe Kidd about reuniting in AEW last week. The trio worked together in New Japan Pro-Wrestling as members of the Bullet Club and War Dogs stable. There is some crossover between New Japan and All Elite Wrestling fans, but it’s not universal. Considering they might be new to some domestic fans, The Dogs gave a “welcome address” by giving their best elevator pitch.

Gabe Kidd: “Yo, watch me on national television, bro. Watch me on national TV bite the heads off very famous wrestlers.”

David Finlay: “Oh, well, let me tell you. I am the last and final leader of the Bullet Club, the original leader of the War Dogs, the inaugural two-time Global Heavyweight Champion, former NEVER Openweight Champion, former Tag Team Champion, former World Tag League winner, the youngest NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champion of all time. And I am the 2025 New Japan Cup Champion and, most recently, the hottest free agent in the game.”

Clark Connors: “He’s a madman. He’s a menace. And I am the sexiest motherf*cker you’re ever going to meet, my friend.”

Gabe Kidd on (not knowing) what’s next

Regarding the free agent moniker, Finlay explained why signing with AEW over WWE was an “easy decision” to make. Kidd was another “free agent” of sorts, moonlighting as a mercenary for the Death Riders in recent weeks. When asked how he plans to navigate having allegiances to both groups, Kidd said he’s not thinking too far ahead. However, his focus is on “the blood” right now, but he’d still have Jon Moxley’s back if needed.

“I do not know what’s going on inside this mad mind. Yeah, let’s get this very clear: I do not have a clue what’s going on. So I go where the blood goes right now — it’s Darby Allin. It doesn’t end until he’s pushing up daisies and the two big dogs come in — not little dogs, the big dogs — the real dogs of this game,” Kidd stated. “Once that’s done, who knows? Not me. Not anyone. No, I don’t know what’s going to happen in the next 10 seconds, never mind that. But if the time calls, yo, I’m ride or die for Jon Mox, too. Don’t get it twisted.”

Connors said Kidd wants to put Darby Allin in the ground, and he showed up to help out because they’re dogs, and they stick together.

“We’re mercenaries in this thing,” Connors said. “We’re going to do whatever we can to keep this dog thing rolling, baby.”

“And who better to put in the ground than OC and Darby Allin? Because when you think of AEW, they’re two faces that come to mind pretty quickly,” Finlay added. “So who better to make a statement against? Who better to let the AEW fans know that the game has changed?”

The Dogs plan on keeping things short and sweet in the ring

The Dogs were victorious on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite, and now move on to AEW Revolution for a six-man tornado tag against Allin, Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong. The trio only has two matches* under their belts in AEW. The debut was a one-sided beatdown that went just under two minutes, and the group said that AEW fans should expect more of the same in the future, too.

“None of our matches are going to be extended looks, dude. That’s exactly what we’re going to do to OC. Exactly what we’re going to do to Darby. Anybody who comes in front of us, the Bang Bang Gang, it doesn’t matter. All our matches are going to look exactly like that,” Clark Connors said. “Two minutes long. Make sure you’re at your television because we’re going to win them really quickly and really destructively.”

“Yo, short and sweet. It’s not sweet for the other people, though,” Kidd added. “Your life changes when we put a beating on you. Yeah, let’s get that clear.”

If there was a match they’d pick as a recommendation to newer fans, Finlay chose their cage match from New Japan’s The New Beginning In Osaka 2024. He noted that they tore the ring apart and left Will Ospreay in a pool of his own blood, highlighting just what they are capable of.

“Grab some popcorn, because it’s long — like 64 minutes,” Finlay said. “We’ve gotten more efficient with our time since then.”
