Nikki Bella Clarifies Controversial Comments About WWE Men’s Division
Nikki Bella addresses her recent comments.
Last week, WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella made headlines when she suggested that WWE’s current women’s division was overall better than the men’s. She additionally stated that “we need to build more stars overall in the WWE, especially for the men,” with the pending and recently logged retirements in the men’s division as her reason why.
Following the mixed reactions to her aforementioned comments (made on Impaulsive) across social media, Nikki took to The Nikki & Brie Show to clarify her stance.
“Sometimes I just hate when I see headlines, and when it was about like no stars, that is not what I meant,” Nikk said. “I don’t mean that. We build. We have incredible talent, men and women and people that eventually will carry this place. There was a time when people didn’t think people who are stars now, they just grow and bloom and all the things. I guess I just have to get used to this new era of media and headlines and how people take things and interpret. People look more for the negative in people’s answers. Especially when you’re the one being interviewed, you say your thing, but it’s not like you have your own show to sit and explain or talk about. You say something, you’re like, ‘Oh, shoot, what I meant was this.'”
“I’ll still stand by women are better than men right now, but there’s not even a competition,” Nikki added. “Our men are incredible at WWE. We see it and you hear the crowds with it. And what’s been like more fun than ever is to really see the lucha men in WWE now. They are some of the favorite men that I love to watch. I hate when I say things and it comes off negatively because I wasn’t meaning it in a negative way.”
Last year, Nikki returned to the road as a member of the WWE Raw brand. At the 2026 Royal Rumble, her sister Brie Bella marked her own WWE return as surprise entrant in the Women’s Royal Rumble. Two days later, Brie and Nikki made it clear that they were back together in full-force, with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships in their sights.
