Cody Rhodes’ Wife Playfully Reacts After ‘Raheem’ Reference on WWE SmackDown
The latest episode of WWE SmackDown kicked off as Cody Rhodes attacked WWE Champion Drew McIntyre during his entrance. The tension between them has been brewing ever since McIntyre eliminated Rhodes from the 2026 Royal Rumble.
The brawl grabbed attention, but the real highlight came once Rhodes grabbed the microphone and fired up the crowd with a passionate promo. He mentioned the heated Roman Reigns–CM Punk exchange from Raw and questioned why McIntyre kept bringing his name into things.
He talked about how WrestleMania season has turned into a “measuring contest” where egos are clashing. That’s when he dropped his famous “Raheem” reference.
Brandi Rhodes Shares Response to Cody Rhodes’ Viral SmackDown Line
The American Nightmare joked that everyone should be thankful he was not invited because he didn’t get the nickname “Raheem” for nothing. “I heard it was going to be a you-know-what measuring contest. Well, they better be glad I didn’t get the invite, because I didn’t get the nickname Raheem for no reason,” Rhodes said during his promo.
The crowd went wild, recalling its meme-filled history. Moreover, Rhodes dropped the reference during Black History Month, which made it more memeworthy.
The “Raheem” nickname goes back to a 2021 AEW promo where Rhodes spoke emotionally about marrying a Black woman and having a biracial kid. What was meant to be heartfelt turned into a long-running fan meme. Fans started using “Cody Raheem Rhodes” on signs, memes on social media, and inside jokes ever since. This includes jokes about Cody being “invited to the cookout.”
After SmackDown went off air, his wife, Brandi Rhodes, reacted on X by posting a GIF that said, “It’s true tho,” with the caption, “Well…” The post is a playful nod to Rhodes’ viral reference moment from SmackDown.

Earlier, Brandi addressed the meme during an episode of What Do You Wanna Talk About?, where she said, “I don’t think anything about them. I see it all the time, and it’s whatever. Some people think it’s funny. That’s fine. It ain’t hurting.”
Brandi has always treated the meme as harmless fun, and her reaction to SmackDown only backed that up.
